If You’re in Boston: Palestinian Narratives Across Genres
On Saturday Octoer 19, starting at 3 p.m., the Boston Palestine Film Festival will present “Palestinian Narratives Across Genres,” featuring short films, readings by novelist and poet Susan Abulhawa, and a roundtable on Palestinian narrative:
The event is co-presented by the Palestine Festival of Literature, and includes screenings of Nora al-Sharif’s Ismail and Omar Robert Hamilton’s Though I Know the River is Dry. From organizers:

Inspired by a day in the life of the famous and prolific Palestinian painter Ismail Shammout (1930-2006),Ismail depicts the evocative story of a young Palestinian artist struggling to survive and support his parents and young brother after their expulsion to a refugee camp in 1948 by the Israeli forces.

Currently nominated for Best Short Film at the prestigious European Film Awards.
Readings from Susan Abulhawa will be from Mornings in Jenin and her new collection, My Voice Sought the Wind. Boston Palestine Film Fest-goers will also be able to see The Great Book Robbery and a number of other excellent films. Tickets are $11, $9 seniors and students.
