This Thursday, October 18, Sudanese poet Al-Saddiq Al-Raddi will be at London’s Mosaic Rooms to read poetry and talk about Sudanese objects: both ancient and contemporary.
Organizers write that the Sudanese poet’s “work vividly reflects the complexity of his heritage as an African poet writing in Arabic. His recent residency at The Petrie Museum of Egyptian Archaeology has led to a series of poems in response to its collection of ancient Sudanese objects.”
Al-Raddi will be joined by poet Sarah Maguire, who will read her translations of Saddiq’s poems; and by Joanna Oyediran, who will discuss Saddiq’s poetry in the context of contemporary Sudanese politics.
